

Burnden Park is a private layout and although fictitious, is set in the Bolton area. Most of the buildings could be found in the area in the 1960’s and have been chosen by the owner as ones he remembers for various reasons. A few freelance buildings have been made to fit spaces in some areas. The main terminus station has been modelled on Great Moor Street station with alterations to fit into the layout.

I have made all the buildings, roads and scenery as well as laying most of the track and adding new baseboards. A branch line starts at the main station and winds through open countryside to a small branch station.
The layout has been featured in British Railway Modelling magazine in the August 2007 issue. This was before the town scene was finished.
Although started as a conventionally wired layout, it has now been converted to DCC, which improves the sequences, especially around the engine shed area.
